Parents and guardians who are yet to receive the $200 back-to-school assistance are being encouraged to address discrepancies in their application forms before the funds can be disbursed. Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel highlighted this issue while speaking to the media in Nadi, stating that payments can only proceed after the correct information has been provided and verified.

Minister Immanuel noted that a dedicated team is stationed at the carpark of the Ministry of Education to assist parents with inquiries about the cash assistance program. A booth has been established to facilitate this process, aiming to clarify outstanding issues related to each child’s application.

He emphasized that once parents resolve discrepancies, the Ministry of Education will compile a verified list and send it to the Ministry of Finance for processing payment. A recurring issue, according to Minister Immanuel, is the accuracy of the forms filled out at schools, particularly changes in contact numbers.

He reminded both parents and teachers of their shared responsibility in ensuring that the application details are correct. To reinforce this, a two-tier verification system has been implemented to ensure that the payments are directed to the right recipients. This collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance aims not only to expedite the assistance process but also to ensure that deserving families receive the financial support they need for the upcoming school year.
