Baby Pearls Kikau triumphed over the Nadroga Stallions in round five of the Finance Hub Super League, finishing with a decisive score of 55-32.
Team manager Lusiana Rakavono commended her players for their strong performance and acknowledged the Nadroga team’s resilience in providing a tough contest until the end.
“We still have room for improvement, and Nadroga challenged us well, but we managed to prevail,” Rakavono remarked.
She noted that despite a week without matches before this game, the team’s commitment to their regular training proved beneficial in achieving a successful outcome against Nadroga.
Rakavono pointed out several areas for enhancement, particularly in developing court combinations and improving ball transitions from center court to finishing plays.
“Focusing on these aspects will be crucial in our upcoming training sessions to elevate our overall gameplay in future matches,” she added.
Following their victory, the team will take a much-needed break before preparing for the Rising Stars tournament set to take place from August 19-23 at the Vodafone Arena.
“This international competition offers a great opportunity for the girls to showcase their skills and possibly earn a place in the 15-player squad for the upcoming qualifiers,” Rakavono expressed.
She also expressed appreciation for the sportsmanship and competitive spirit displayed by both teams during the match, looking forward to the next round with optimism.
