BA Town faced significant disruption yesterday morning as the Ba River overflowed its banks, causing widespread flooding that affected roads and bridges, compelling residents to suspend their daily routines.

Key areas impacted included the Rarawai FSC Mill Road and its bridge, which were fully submerged. Many residents were spotted maneuvering through knee-deep water in an effort to return home safely. Litiana Lebaivalu, a local resident, recounted her experience, stating, “I went to work this morning, but I’m heading back home now,” while navigating the flooded bridge.

The flooding has not only affected local workers but has also caused disruptions in business and travel throughout Ba Town. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel as local authorities assess the damage from the flooding. Police officers have been deployed around the town to monitor traffic and ensure public safety amidst the challenging circumstances.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu urged the community to prepare for possible worsening conditions as they continue to receive reports regarding the floods.

This situation highlights the resilience of the Ba Town community as they face these challenges together. With ongoing support from local authorities and a community spirit focused on safety, there is hope for recovery and rebuilding in the aftermath of this natural event.
