The Ba Rugby Union has officially appointed Ben Tora as the new head coach for the upcoming domestic competition, as confirmed by Union secretary Gabby Kautoga. Tora takes over from former Flying Fijian star Vilimoni Delasau, who will transition into the role of Ba Rugby ambassador due to health concerns stemming from old injuries. Although Delasau will not be able to participate fully, he will remain involved with the team in a supportive capacity.

In other coaching news, Waisale Tikomailepanoni has been appointed head coach for the Ba women’s rugby team, while Josaia Tuwai continues as head coach for the Ba Under-20 side. Kautoga indicated that the Ba Rugby Union held a Special General Meeting (SGM) last Saturday, where they discussed plans to enhance their club structure and ensure smooth operations, especially considering potential changes to the Skipper Cup competition schedule, which may shift to August next year.

Looking ahead, Kautoga expressed aspirations to raise the administration and overall level of the game, with an increase in clubs from 32 to 40 anticipated for the upcoming season. He emphasized the importance of improving administrative tasks across clubs to reduce delays during matches.

The team’s immediate goal for the next season is to maintain a position in the Skipper Cup and achieve a top-five finish, with past performance showing progress after securing a spot in the top eight last year. This ambition also includes competing for the Farebrother Trophy, showcasing the Union’s commitment to growth and competitiveness.

In summary, the Ba Rugby Union is poised for an exciting future with new leadership and strategic plans to enhance the level of the game at the club level, aiming for success in both competition and administration.

This positive turn of developments highlights the dedication of the Ba Rugby Union to not only improve its team performance but also uplift the entire rugby community in the region. Fans and players alike can look forward to an invigorated season ahead.
