Ba Rugby Union Sets Strict Player Eligibility Rules for Championships

The Ba Rugby Union has made an official announcement regarding player eligibility for the ongoing Ba Tikina Championships.

In the statement, the union emphasized that any team wishing to include a player who has played for another provincial union in 2024 must follow specific procedures. This directive concerns players who have been involved in competitions like the Skipper Cup, Vanua Championship, Marama Championship, or Ranadi Cup, as well as those who have played Club Rugby under a different provincial union this year.

To ensure eligibility, teams must secure a written release from both the player’s previous provincial union and their club. Without this official permission, the player will not be allowed to participate in the Ba Tikina Championships.

“If any team in the Ba Tikina Championships wishes to include a player who has represented another provincial union in 2024 in the Skipper Cup, Vanua Championships, Marama Championships or Ranadi Cup, or has played club rugby under another provincial union in 2024, they must obtain a written release from that provincial union,” the statement clarified.

This initiative is designed to promote transparency and fairness within the competition, ensuring proper management of player transfers between provincial unions.
