The Ba Rugby Union celebrated a significant milestone as they received a custom-made scrumming sled from their major sponsor, Ba Industries Limited (BIL), on Tuesday. This donation underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the development of rugby in the province.
Ben Tora, head coach of Vinod Patel Ba, expressed his enthusiasm for the new equipment, stating, “This is a big day for Ba Rugby. Scrumming is an area where our players need technical training as well as good equipment.” The sled, designed specifically for the team’s requirements, has already undergone testing with the larger players on the squad, demonstrating its strength and durability.
Tora highlighted that the newly acquired sled will be instrumental for the team as it attempts to improve scrumming, mauling, and line-out techniques—critical aspects that can determine match outcomes. He emphasized the need for a cultural shift among local clubs to embrace these elements. Along with the sled, BIL has promised to manufacture four additional sleds to be distributed across different areas of Ba, as well as two full-size scrum machines tailored for use by various clubs once coaches achieve the necessary certification.
Sanjay Badgujar, General Manager of BIL, expressed pride in contributing to rugby equipment, noting that the company, known for industrial manufacturing, is also eager to support athletes. This collaboration not only symbolizes corporate community involvement but also aims at enhancing the local rugby infrastructure, which is vital for long-term success.
Tora also noted the positive atmosphere at the delivery event, where players from the Vinod Patel Ba team enjoyed a meal with BIL workers, enhancing community ties.
The continued partnership between Ba Rugby Union and Ba Industries Limited illustrates a robust support system poised to foster talent and improve performance while promoting the sporting culture within the province. This initiative promises a hopeful future for rugby in Ba, with expectations to see enhancements not only in player skills but also in the overall competitive standard of the sport in the region.
