The Ba Rugby Union marked a momentous event on Tuesday, receiving a custom-built scrumming sled from Ba Industries Limited (BIL), their primary sponsor. This donation is a testament to BIL’s unwavering dedication to the growth and development of rugby in the region.
Ben Tora, the head coach of Vinod Patel Ba, expressed his excitement about the new equipment, stating, “This is a big day for Ba Rugby. Scrumming is an area where our players need technical training as well as good equipment.” The sled has been specifically designed to meet the team’s needs and has already proven its strength and durability during testing with the bigger players on the squad.
Tora pointed out that the sled will be crucial for the team in refining scrumming, mauling, and line-out techniques—elements essential for success in matches. He stressed the importance of fostering a cultural shift among local clubs to embrace these critical skills. In addition to the donated sled, BIL has committed to producing four additional sleds to distribute across various locations in Ba and two full-size scrum machines for clubs that meet the required coaching certifications.
Sanjay Badgujar, General Manager of BIL, took pride in supporting local rugby initiatives, emphasizing the company’s commitment to bridge the gap between industrial manufacturing and sports promotion. This partnership not only reflects corporate social responsibility but also aims to bolster the local rugby infrastructure, paving the way for sustained growth in the sport.
The event was marked by a celebratory atmosphere, with Vinod Patel Ba players sharing a meal with BIL employees, reinforcing community bonds.
The ongoing collaboration between Ba Rugby Union and Ba Industries Limited highlights a strong support framework that seeks to nurture talent and enhance performance, while also promoting a vibrant sporting culture in the province. With these developments, the future of rugby in Ba looks promising, with expectations of improved player skills and a higher competitive standard in the region’s sporting activities.
