The Ba Rugby Union has officially appointed Ben Tora as the new head coach for their upcoming domestic competition, a decision confirmed by Union secretary Gabby Kautoga. Tora takes over the position from former Flying Fijian star Vilimoni Delasau, who has transitioned into a role as Ba Rugby ambassador. Despite stepping down from coaching due to ongoing injury concerns, Delasau will still be involved with the team in a supportive capacity.

Kautoga emphasized that Tora underwent a thorough selection process before being appointed, and he also announced that Waisale Tikomailepanoni will serve as the head coach for the Ba women’s rugby team, while Josaia Tuwai continues as the head coach for the Ba Under-20 team.

During a recent Special General Meeting, Kautoga shared that Ba Rugby has developed a contingency plan for their club games in anticipation of potential schedule changes for the Skipper Cup competition, which might be moved to August next year. He expresses a commitment to enhancing the standards of play and administrative operations within the clubs, noting a projected increase from 32 to 40 clubs in the upcoming season.

Kautoga acknowledged the accomplishments of the previous season, where his team aimed to finish in the top eight of the Skipper Cup. Moving forward, the goal is to secure a position in the top five and compete for the prestigious Farebrother Trophy.

This change in leadership reflects the Ba Rugby Union’s commitment to growth and improvement in local rugby, enhancing not only the team’s performance on the field but also the overall administrative capabilities of the associated clubs. With new leadership and a positive outlook, Ba Rugby looks well-prepared to elevate its standing in the upcoming season.

In summary, the Ba Rugby Union is making strategic moves aimed at improving both team performance and administrative efficiency, signaling a hopeful future for the organization and its players.
