The Ba Rugby Union has announced the appointment of Ben Tora as the new head coach for their upcoming domestic competition. This decision was confirmed by Ba Rugby Union secretary Gabby Kautoga. Tora steps into the role following the transition of former Flying Fijian star winger Vilimoni Delasau, who is now serving as the Ba Rugby ambassador. Due to ongoing issues with old injuries, Delasau will be unable to fully participate but will continue to support the team.

Kautoga noted that Tora successfully completed interviews and all necessary processes before his appointment. Additionally, Waisale Tikomailepanoni has been appointed as the new head coach for the Ba women’s rugby team, while Josaia Tuwai retains his position as the head coach for the Ba Under-20 team.

During a recent Special General Meeting (SGM), Kautoga shared that the Ba Rugby Union has prepared a contingency plan for their club games if the Fiji Rugby Union changes the schedule for the Skipper Cup competition to August next year. He emphasized the need for improvement at the club level, mentioning plans to increase the number of clubs from 32 to 40 for the following year. Kautoga stressed the importance of enhancing administrative efforts, such as team lists and registration processes, mentioning that while progress has been made, further improvements are necessary to elevate the organization over the next three years.

Looking ahead, the Ba Rugby Union aims to maintain their status in the Skipper Cup competition and secure a place in the top five. Their goal for the current year was to achieve a spot in the top eight, which they successfully accomplished. The team aspires to not only compete effectively for the Farebrother Trophy but to strengthen their overall performance in the future.

In summary, the Ba Rugby Union is making strategic appointments and improvements to enhance their competitiveness in domestic rugby, demonstrating a commitment to growth and revitalization within the sport. With clear goals in place and a focus on administrative development, there is a promising outlook for their future endeavors in the league.

This evolving scenario in the Ba Rugby Union reflects hopeful progress and a strategic vision, aiming to build on their successes and lay a strong foundation for the next generation of rugby players.
