The 2024 Ba Rugby Tikina Championships was officially inaugurated in Sorokoba Village, Ba. The tournament is set to begin this Saturday, featuring thrilling matches in the Ba Industries Limited (BIL) men’s division, the Rooster Chicken women’s division, and the Under-19 division.

Running until October 19, the games form part of Ba Rugby’s elite development program aimed at preparing three representative teams for the 2025 season. Ba Rugby Union executive Jeremy Duxbury announced the teams that will be participating.

“This year, the Rooster Chicken Shield (Women’s) has welcomed two new teams – Savatu and Yakete – bringing the total to eight teams. Additionally, the eight U19 teams will receive new BLK uniforms for the tournament,” Duxbury stated.

He added, “After a highly competitive club competition, we expect the Ba Industries Cup (Men’s) to elevate the rugby standards once again.” Significant advancements in performance are expected this season from clubs in Naloto, Magodro, and Savatu, ensuring that there are no predictable outcomes.

BIL General Manager Sanjay Badgujar expressed pride in supporting the Ba Rugby Union. “Ba Rugby has achieved remarkable success despite challenges and skepticism about its potential. We have proven our critics wrong,” Badgujar remarked. “We take pride in our partnership, which will facilitate our goals and competitive aspirations in Fiji Rugby.”
