The Ba Golf Club kicked off its season on Saturday by hosting the General Machinery and Motors Ltd Summer Cup at the FSC Ba Golf Club. The tournament, played in a stableford format, saw participation from over 20 golfers from Ba and Lautoka, who embraced the wet and hot conditions for a day of enjoyment on the greens.

Ba Golf Club captain Asish Chand expressed his delight at the turnout and the spirited involvement of the players, highlighting their resilience in face of the challenging weather. “I’m very impressed to see the outcome at the Ba Golf Club, even though it was wet weather with tough conditions and a hot day. People still enjoyed the tournament,” Chand commented. He also noted that golfers from Lautoka took the opportunity to practice their skills in Ba.

The Summer Cup is set to last four weeks, with players accumulating points each week to vie for the overall winner’s title during the final week. Chand conveyed his appreciation to General Machinery and Motors Ltd, particularly director Alvin Singh, thanking them for their support in facilitating the tournament. “The club truly appreciates the backing from General Machinery and Motors Ltd. Such sponsorships ensure we continue hosting events that bring golfers together,” he stated.

Competition will continue next weekend, offering more rounds that promise to test the golfers’ skills and endurance.

In summary, the launch of the Ba Golf Club’s Summer Cup marks a positive start to the season, with strong community support and the promise of exciting competition in the weeks to come. This event not only fosters sporting spirit but also brings together the local golfing community, reinforcing camaraderie despite the weather conditions.
