The Ba Golf Club kicked off its season on Saturday with the General Machinery and Motors Ltd Summer Cup at the FSC Ba Golf Club. The tournament featured a stableford format and attracted over 20 golfers from Ba and Lautoka, who tackled the challenging wet and hot conditions to enjoy a day on the course.

Ba Golf Club captain Asish Chand expressed his delight with the turnout and the enthusiasm of the players despite the weather challenges. He noted, “I’m very impressed to see the outcome at the Ba Golf Club, even though it was wet weather with tough conditions and a hot day. People still enjoyed the tournament.”

The Summer Cup is set to unfold over four weeks, with points accumulated each week to determine the overall champion during the final week. Chand acknowledged the significant role of General Machinery and Motors Ltd, particularly director Alvin Singh, in facilitating the event, stating, “The club truly appreciates the backing from General Machinery and Motors Ltd. Such sponsorships ensure we continue hosting events that bring golfers together.”

The competition is expected to continue next weekend, promising more rounds that will further challenge the players’ skills and endurance.

This event showcases not only the resilience of the golfing community but also highlights the importance of sponsorship in supporting local sports. With continued participation and enthusiasm from players, the Summer Cup is a positive sign for the future of golf in the region.

In summary, the Ba Golf Club’s Summer Cup not only successfully launched the season but also brought together golfers in a spirit of camaraderie, proving that dedication and community support can overcome daunting weather challenges.
