Ba FC is undergoing a significant leadership change as head coach Ronil Kumar has decided to step down in order to take up the role of assistant coach for the U-17 National team, which is preparing for the upcoming U-17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This transition allows Director of Football Rodeck Singh to take charge as the team gets ready for the Battle of the Giants tournament, which is a key event in the local football calendar.

Singh expressed his insights regarding the team’s recent match against Rewa, where Ba suffered a 2-0 defeat. He noted that the match provided valuable lessons, enabling the team to identify areas for improvement ahead of the tournament. “Our pool is filled with quality teams. Our first task will be to beat them in the pool stages and qualify for the knockout rounds. Our opening game against Labasa will be challenging, especially playing in front of their home crowd,” he mentioned, highlighting the tough competition ahead.

With the absence of key players like Tevita Koroi, Atu Naucukidi, and Misiwani Nairube from the squad, Singh reassured fans that Ba has a wealth of talent to draw upon, with 35 to 36 players in their ranks. The final squad of 22 players was selected based on performance, ensuring that only the best are representing the club.

Ba FC’s match schedule for the tournament includes important encounters against Extra Supermarket Labasa on Friday, followed by games against Paradise Seafood Lautoka on Saturday and Sigatoka Electric Nadroga on Sunday. Fans will be able to enjoy live commentary on Radio Fiji Two, allowing them to stay connected with the action.

This leadership transition and the team’s focus on improving their game provide an optimistic outlook for Ba FC, as they seek to harness their collective strengths and build on past experiences for a successful tournament campaign.
