Ba secured the 65th Tebara Halal Meats Muslim Inter District Championship (IDC) title by defeating Rewa 2-1 after extra time in an exciting final held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka last night. The team, featuring standout players such as Nabil Begg and Mohammed Shazil Ali, took an early lead in the first half.
Despite trailing, Rewa managed to equalize in the final moments of regular time, pushing the match into extra time. Throughout the extra period, both teams had several opportunities to score, but it was a stunning free-kick by Dr Zaim Ali that ultimately secured the victory for Ba, clinching the championship for them.
In the semifinals leading up to the final, Ba triumphed over Drasa in a thrilling 5-3 match after the teams were deadlocked at 3-3 in regular time, while Rewa comfortably defeated Suva 3-0 to advance to the final.
Additionally, Mohammed Ramzan of Rewa was recognized for his exemplary performance in the final by winning the Golden Ball, while Ba’s Nabil Begg earned the Golden Boot by finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals.
In other categories, Nadi Muslim College won the U17 title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Kamil Muslim College, and South 1 emerged victorious in the Legends category, defeating West 1 with a score of 2-0.
