Ba Clinches FMF Muslim Futsal IDC Crown in Suva Thriller

The Ba Muslim futsal team emerged victorious at the FMF Muslim Futsal IDC, securing a 4-2 win against Valelevu in a thrilling final held at Suva’s FMF Gymnasium. The match showcased the strength and skill of the “men in black,” who led 2-0 by halftime, with goals from Imran Wali Khan, Faazil Faizul Ali, and Zaim Khan contributing to their triumph.

Coached by Amit Kumar, the winning side celebrated their achievement as “a mission accomplished.” Prior to this decisive final, the Maigania under-15 team also claimed victory, beating Nadi 2-1 to take the U15 title. The legends final saw the Intiaz Khan-captained Suva team decisively beat Nakasi with a score of 3-0, while Makoi triumphed in the Master’s division, edging out North East 3-1 after a penalty shootout.

This year’s tournament displayed the growing popularity of futsal in Fiji, with 25 teams participating and an increase in overall engagement compared to the previous year. Organized by the Fiji Muslim Sports Association, the tournament emphasized the importance of competitive play and community spirit, with teams across various age divisions vying for a total prize of $1,000 for each category.

The successful execution of this event signals a positive future for futsal in Fiji, highlighting the talent within the local community and generating excitement for future competitions. Efforts from sponsors and organizing bodies continue to foster an environment conducive to sportsmanship and youth engagement, contributing to the broader development of football in the region.
