The grounds of Ba Academy were alive with excitement and youthful energy as they successfully hosted a grassroots football festival organized by the Fiji Football Association last Saturday, despite continuous rain throughout the day. This event highlighted the resilience and passion of the young athletes involved.
Participants actively engaged in various skill-building sessions that emphasized teamwork and a love for the sport, demonstrating that their spirits were undeterred by the wet weather. The festival underscored Ba Academy’s strong commitment to nurturing football talent at the grassroots level, providing young players with an encouraging environment in which to grow both on and off the field.
Adding to the day’s value, the Director of Ba Football, Ravinesh Kumar, was present alongside Ba team players, offering mentorship and encouragement to the youngsters. “Despite the rain, the energy and passion from the young players were outstanding. This is exactly what grassroots football is about—giving children the opportunity to enjoy the game, develop their skills, and build confidence in a supportive environment,” remarked Kumar. He emphasized the significance of community-based programs in reinforcing the future of football in Fiji.
The enthusiasm and collaborative spirit observed during the festival showcased the collective strength of football development when communities unite. With more young participants expected to join in, the festival will continue next Saturday, further promoting the joy of the game among Fiji’s youth. This initiative not only builds skills but also fosters a sense of community, ensuring a positive outlook for the sport’s future in the region.
