Two prominent Australian boxers have been officially announced for the South Pacific Boxing Promotions event on October 26 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
SPBP promoter Fred Chand confirmed this news yesterday after the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) sanctioned the matches. In the featured bout, IBO Asia Pacific and Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill will square off against the powerful Lachlan O’Shea. O’Shea, a former Australian National Boxing Federation Queensland titleholder, is known for pushing Australia welterweight champion Joel Taylor to the limits.
Chand emphasized the high caliber of the upcoming IBO title fights, stating, “Both the IBO title fights will involve world-class boxers.”
In addition, Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh of Fiji has a significant opportunity to enhance his world rankings as he prepares to defend his World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Asia Pacific cruiserweight title. Singh will face the unbeaten Sydney-based ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo for the vacant IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title. Chand expressed gratitude to Singh for seizing this chance, remarking, “To be the best in the world, you’ve got to fight the best.”
Records indicate that Tongotonga has won all eight of his professional bouts, according to Box Rec. Chand mentioned that the promotion is currently finalizing the undercard and will issue an official announcement after receiving sanctioning from the Boxing Commission of Fiji.
Moreover, SPBP director Mohammed Shameem revealed plans to invite well-known Australian ring announcer Steve Peios and a professional boxing referee to the event.
