Renovation projects for two healthcare facilities in the country will receive financial support from the Australian Government, according to Minister for Health Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu. He announced that Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade would provide funding for the renovation of Waiyevo Hospital in Taveuni and Vunisea Hospital in Kadavu.
Dr. Lalabalavu confirmed that assessment works at both hospitals have been finalized. “What remains now is the actual work to be done,” he stated. The Australian High Commission expressed its pleasure in supporting vital infrastructure improvements at the hospitals through the Cyclone Recovery Program.
An evaluation of the hospitals has already identified the necessary upgrades, according to the High Commission. It noted that contractors will be engaged to develop detailed designs before construction teams are deployed next year to implement these improvements.
