Two prominent Australian boxers have been officially confirmed for the South Pacific Boxing Promotions event scheduled for October 26 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. This announcement was made by promoter Fred Chand following the approval of the fights by the International Boxing Organisation (IBO).
In the main event, IBO Asia Pacific and Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill will challenge the powerful Lachlan O’Shea. O’Shea is known for his impressive record, having previously held the Queensland title from the Australian National Boxing Federation and pushing Australia welterweight champion Joel Taylor to the limit in a competitive match.
Chand emphasized that both IBO title bouts will showcase exceptional talent. In another significant matchup, local boxer Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh will have the chance to enhance his world ranking as he faces the unbeaten ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo for the vacant IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title. Singh currently holds the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Asia Pacific cruiserweight title.
“To be the best in the world, you’ve got to fight the best. We’re grateful to Sebastian for taking this opportunity,” Chand stated. Records indicate that Tongotonga has won all eight of his professional bouts so far.
Chand mentioned that they are currently finalizing the undercard fights and will issue an official announcement once it receives approval from the Boxing Commission of Fiji. Additionally, SPBP director Mohammed Shameem confirmed plans to bring in well-known Australian ring announcer Steve Peios and a professional boxing referee for the event.
