The NZFFI Auckland All Stars advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup after a commanding 3-1 victory over Labasa in their final Group B match held in Lautoka. With this win, the reigning champions demonstrated their determination and skill on the field.
Labasa, who had accumulated four points prior to the match, needed at least a draw to secure a place in the next round. In contrast, the Auckland All Stars were under pressure to secure a win. The first goal for the All Stars came shortly before halftime, when Andrew Naicker skillfully converted a midfield pass, sending the ball past Labasa’s goalkeeper, Simione Tamanisau.
In the second half, Gabriel Matanisiga and Solomon Islander Andrew Abba each found the back of the net, further solidifying Auckland’s lead. Despite the All Stars’ dominance, Christopher Wasasala managed to score a consolation goal for Labasa from a penalty kick in the waning moments of the match.
As it stands, the Auckland All Stars finished second in Group B with a total of six points, just behind the USA All Stars, who topped the group with seven points.
