The NZFFI Auckland All Stars triumphed in the Pacific Community Cup at Churchill Park in Lautoka, successfully defending their title with a 2-0 victory over the Manukau All Stars in an exciting final. The match featured early goals from standout players Eber Ramirez and Nicolas Bobadilla, both of whom played a crucial role in the team’s success under the guidance of coach Josaia Bukalidi.
Despite making a strong effort in the second half, the Manukau All Stars struggled to find the back of the net due to a resilient defense led by Mohammed Shuaib Khan and Gabriel Matanisiga, who stifled their attempts to score.
Earlier in the tournament, the Auckland All Stars secured their place in the final by defeating the host team Lautoka 2-0, while the Manukau All Stars achieved a similar feat against the USA All Stars.
For their victory, the Auckland All Stars were awarded $10,000 FJD, while the Manukau All Stars received $3,000. In addition, Mohammed Nabeel of Auckland All Stars earned the Player of the Tournament accolade. Beniamino Mateinaqara, Auckland’s goalkeeper, was recognized with the Golden Glove award, and Manukau’s Garbhan Coughlan took home the Golden Boot after scoring seven goals throughout the tournament. Furthermore, the AuFFI All Stars were honored as the Fairest Team.
This tournament not only showcased the talent and competitive spirit within the teams but also highlighted the growth of football in the region. As the season progresses, it bodes well for the future of the sport, bringing communities together through passionate play and friendly competition.
