The NZFFI Auckland All Stars, the reigning champions, demonstrated their strength by defeating Labasa 3-1 in their final Group B match of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup held in Lautoka. This victory secured their place in the semifinals of the tournament.

Labasa entered the match with four points and needed at least a draw to advance, while the Auckland team was in a must-win situation. The match started with a crucial goal from Andrew Naicker, who found the net shortly before halftime after skillfully receiving a midfield pass and beating Labasa’s goalkeeper, Simione Tamanisau.

In the second half, the All Stars extended their lead with further goals from Gabriel Matanisiga and Solomon Islander Andrew Abba, solidifying their win. Although Christopher Wasasala managed to score a penalty for Labasa late in the game, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

With this result, the Auckland All Stars finished second in Group B with six points, while the USA All Stars topped the group with seven points.

This match highlights the competitive spirit and talent present in the Pacific Community Cup, suggesting an exciting semifinal round ahead. The Auckland All Stars’ ability to bounce back under pressure showcases their determination and skill as they aim to defend their title in the upcoming stages of the tournament.
