The NZFFI Auckland All Stars successfully defended their title at the Pacific Community Cup held at Churchill Park in Lautoka, triumphing over the Manukau All Stars with a score of 2-0 in an exciting final matchup.
The victory was secured by two early goals from guest players Eber Ramirez and Nicolas Bobadilla, showcasing the effective strategies devised by coach Josaia Bukalidi. Despite a strong effort from the Manukau All Stars in the second half, which saw them pushing for goals, they were thwarted by the robust defense featuring Mohammed Shuaib Khan and Gabriel Matanisiga.
In the semifinals leading up to the final, Auckland All Stars demonstrated their dominance by defeating the local team Lautoka 2-0, while Manukau All Stars also achieved a similar victory against the USA All Stars.
In recognition of their success, Auckland All Stars were awarded $10,000 FJD as tournament champions, while Manukau took home $3,000 for their commendable performance. Mohammed Nabeel of Auckland All Stars was honored as the Player of the Tournament, and his teammate, goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara, won the Golden Glove. Manukau’s Garbhan Coughlan distinguished himself as the tournament’s top scorer, earning the Golden Boot with seven goals, and AuFFI All Stars received accolades as the Fairest Team.
