Athletic Dreams Ignite at ISS Inter-House Event Ahead of Suva Zones!

International School Suva (ISS) is currently hosting its annual inter-house athletics event, a vital preparation for the upcoming Suva Zones competition scheduled for next week. This year, approximately 350 students from grades 6 to 12 are participating alongside school staff, showcasing their athletic prowess.

Paul Brotherton, the ISS Athletics Director, expressed enthusiasm for the school’s prospects at the Suva Zones, aiming to field about 30 athletes in various track and field events. He highlighted a notable point of pride: “We currently have the Inter High Jump champion, who broke the record last year, and we also have very good runners competing in the 100m, 200m, and 400m this year.”

The dedicated athletics coaches at ISS are working diligently to prepare the athletes for competition against other prominent schools. The spirit of determination and teamwork evident at the event underlines the importance of nurturing young talent in sports.

Meanwhile, similar inter-house competitions are taking place across other schools, such as Marist Brothers Primary School, which recently held a large event aimed at preparing their athletes for the upcoming Suva Zone and Chow Games. This reflects a broader trend among Fijian schools, where athletics is being prioritized not only for individual growth but also for fostering a vibrant sporting community.

As the excitement builds for the Suva Zones starting next Thursday, students and supporters alike remain hopeful for strong performances and successful outcomes in the competitions ahead.

This focus on youth sports exemplifies the potential for teamwork and personal development, making a positive impact on Fiji’s athletic landscape. With this commitment to nurturing talent, the future looks bright for aspiring young athletes.
