Athletics Fiji’s long-distance coach, Bola Tafou, has called on athletes to dedicate themselves to rigorous preparations in order to represent Fiji at the Pacific Mini Games next year. Known for his success in coaching elite athletes, including the renowned Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro, Tafou stressed the urgency of starting serious training without delay.
He pointed out that elevating an athlete’s performance to the necessary level typically requires over a year of dedicated effort. Consequently, he emphasized the importance of taking action now, particularly for those who aim to improve their results from the 2023 Pacific Games held in the Solomon Islands.
Tafou is actively involved in nurturing young talent through the ongoing Athletics Camp, which will continue until January. This program is designed to help athletes enhance their skills and performance. He reassured athletes that coaches are fully prepared and ready to provide the needed support and guidance during their training.
The 2025 Pacific Mini Games are set to take place in Koror, Palau, from June 29 to July 9, providing a significant platform for aspiring athletes to showcase their abilities.
This call-to-action reflects the commitment of Fiji’s athletic community to foster talent and ensure that athletes are adequately prepared to compete at high levels. With dedicated preparation and support from experienced coaches like Tafou, the future appears promising for Fijian athletes aiming for success on the international stage.
