Anjana Devi Chand has made history as the 1000th patient to undergo a cardiothoracic procedure at Aspen Medical Lautoka Hospital, highlighting the institution’s commitment to providing advanced cardiac care. Mrs. Chand experienced a life-threatening heart attack on January 17 at her home in Nadi, which led to her hospitalization for a two-week treatment period that involved a crucial cardiothoracic intervention.
Reflecting on her journey, Mrs. Chand shared her deep-seated fears stemming from the loss of her father to a heart attack when she was just 11 years old. This traumatic experience resurfaced when she faced her own health crisis. “I kept thinking that this is what happened to my father,” she recalled. However, with the expertise of the Aspen Medical team and the support of a modern cath lab, she has been given a new lease on life. Today, she expresses her relief and joy, stating, “I feel energized and very happy that I was able to come out of that bad experience.”
Gavin Whiteside, CEO of Aspen Medical Fiji, emphasized the organization’s vision of delivering exceptional cardiac healthcare. He noted that reaching the milestone of 1000 cardiac procedures reflects not just the volume of care provided, but the quality and impact of the services offered to patients and families. “This milestone is not just about volume. It is about the value it reflects, the quality of care our teams deliver each and every day,” said Whiteside.
Glenn Keys, the founder and executive chairperson of Aspen Medical, praised the state-of-the-art cath lab in Lautoka, describing it as one of the best facilities globally. He expressed confidence in the continuous improvements and advancements made in their services, underscoring a commitment to excellence in patient care.
