Top midfielder Ashnil Raju is set to make a significant return to the Labasa team for the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup in Lautoka, taking place this week. Raju was unable to participate in the Inter-District Championship (IDC) due to family obligations, but his comeback is expected to bolster the Babasiga Lions’ midfield.
Coach Ravneel Pratap has confirmed that all key players from the IDC-winning squad, including notable talents such as Solomon Islanders Tigi Molea and Junior Fordney, will be available for selection. However, Australia-based player Anish Khem will miss the tournament due to work commitments.
Labasa has been drawn into a challenging Group B, including the defending champions, Auckland All Stars, along with Rewa and the USA All Stars. They will kick off their campaign against the USA All Stars in their opening match scheduled for 4:30 PM tomorrow.
This return of Raju and the strong lineup for Labasa fill the team and its supporters with optimism as they gear up for a tough tournament ahead. Fans can look forward to an exciting display of talent and teamwork.
