Asco Motors has signed on as a Bronze Sponsor for the Women Invigorating the Nation (WIN) Convention 2026, the company announced yesterday, throwing private sector weight behind this year’s theme: “Give to Gain: Investing in Women, Transform Our Future.” The sponsorship was announced by Ajitesh Prasad, Asco Motors’ general manager Corporate Services and company secretary, who framed the move as more than a financial gesture — a corporate commitment to empowering women across Fiji.
“At Asco Motors, we believe that empowering women is not just a responsibility – it is a source of inspiration and strength,” Prasad said in his announcement. He pointed to concrete changes within the company, noting women are “breaking barriers and thriving in roles that were once considered out of reach,” including female technicians working in traditionally male-dominated fields. “This sponsorship is more than a financial contribution – it is a statement of our commitment to investing in women, to nurturing talent and to building a future where opportunities are shared equitably,” he added.
The WIN Convention is organised annually by the Women Entrepreneurs Business Council (WEBC), a council operating under the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF), the country’s apex private sector body. WEBC chair Jyoti Maharaj welcomed Asco Motors’ support and stressed the convention’s role in shifting mindsets and strengthening networks for women entrepreneurs. “The WIN Convention is, for many women, the place where ‘mentality shifts, where self-doubt gives way to strategy, and isolation gives way to a network that carries them forward,’” Maharaj said, underscoring the event’s focus on practical capacity-building as well as advocacy.
Asco’s sponsorship arrives as organisers look to leverage private sector partnerships to broaden the reach and impact of WIN 2026. Maharaj said collaborations such as this are vital to “helping women shift their mentality and build networks,” and to fortifying Fiji’s economic future by fostering closer ties between business and women-led enterprises. The sponsorship also signals that more corporate players are willing to visibly align their brand and resources with gender inclusion initiatives.
Prasad framed the investment as aligned with national development: “We see this as an investment in our nation’s progress because when women succeed, communities prosper and businesses thrive.” While Asco’s announcement did not outline the specific activities it will back at WIN 2026, the company’s emphasis on workplace examples of gender inclusion suggests its support is intended to extend beyond branding to the promotion of skill development and recruitment pathways for women.
The WIN Convention has increasingly been positioned by WEBC as a platform for dialogue, collaboration and empowerment, bringing together women entrepreneurs, private-sector stakeholders and policymakers. With Asco Motors joining as a Bronze Sponsor, organisers are hopeful the partnership will help amplify training, mentorship and networking opportunities at WIN 2026 — and encourage other firms to follow suit in backing initiatives that aim to expand economic opportunity for Fijian women.
