A family from the United Kingdom is on a heartfelt quest to find a Fijian man who was the subject of a pencil portrait created by their 16-year-old son, Cruz Morris. The portrait was drawn by Cruz after he met the man near the Biausevu Waterfalls while presenting a sevusevu, a traditional ceremonial offering, during his visit to Fiji on April 1st.

Cruz, an aspiring portrait artist studying at a college in the UK, dedicated over 32 hours to hand-drawing the detailed portrait. His mother, Sarah Morris, shared that Cruz was inspired by the encounter and wanted to express his gratitude by showing the finished artwork to the man. “He met some amazing people and got lots of photographs, one of which he turned into a portrait,” Sarah conveyed in her message seeking help to identify the artist’s subject.

For anyone with information about the man’s identity, Sarah Morris has provided her email address for contact, hoping the community can assist her son in this endeavor.

Cruz’s ambition to become a portrait artist has been fueled by his experiences in Fiji, where the rich cultural traditions and stunning landscapes have inspired him creatively. This story not only showcases the connection formed between cultures through art but also reflects the power of community in helping make such connections possible.

With Cruz’s determination and the support of the public, there is hope that he will be able to share his artwork with its original subject, forging a lasting connection through art that transcends borders.
