A fire that destroyed the Defence Club in Suva earlier this year has been classified as arson. Puamau Sowane, the chief executive officer of the National Fire Authority, confirmed this in a statement, stating that the investigation into the incident has been completed. Sowane noted that the investigation report indicated the fire’s origin and source led to the conclusion of arson. The investigation file has been submitted to the Fiji Police Crime Office, with Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa confirming its receipt. Waqa stated that they will review the investigation report from the NFA to determine the point of origin and proceed from there.
