A man charged with setting fire to the Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute on April 7 has been instructed to maintain distance from a friend to whom he reportedly confessed the crime.
Emosi Tikoicina appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe at the High Court in Suva for a hearing regarding his bail application. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) lawyer, Zenith Zunaid, requested the court to prohibit the accused from contacting any prosecution witnesses, especially the friend to whom he allegedly admitted the offense.
During the previous session, Mr. Zunaid noted that Tikoicina had purportedly made verbal confessions regarding the incident to a friend, as well as to the arresting officer, the interviewing officer, and a Justice of the Peace.
Tikoicina was granted a $500 non-cash bail bond, supported by two sureties: his father and cousin. Both sureties are also bound to the same amount.
He has been reminded to comply with the bail conditions while released. Tikoicina is scheduled to appear in court again on September 30.
