Arrests Made in Fiji for Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs

Two men have been taken into custody after allegedly being found in possession of illicit drugs in Nabua. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu reported that an individual called the Samabula Police Station early yesterday with details about the two suspects.

A police officer accompanied the informant to Mead Road. Backup was called, and with the assistance of two other officers, the two men in their 20s were arrested. Substances believed to be methamphetamine were confiscated and sent for analysis.

ACP Driu commended the individual who provided the tip-off, noting that every arrest and seizure helps in reducing the supply and harm of illicit drugs.

In other drug-related operations, the Cakau Operations team uprooted plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area. Investigations are ongoing to identify the owner of the farm.

Furthermore, in the Northern Division, two men in their 20s were arrested in Labasa Town for allegedly possessing marijuana.
