Arrest Made in Nabua Stoning Incident: Police Call for Community Support

A suspect has been arrested following a stoning incident that occurred on Ratu Mara Road in Nabua last night, where he allegedly threw stones at a police vehicle shortly after 9 PM. The Southern Division Task Force took the suspect into custody and is currently pursuing a second individual involved, whose identity is known to the authorities.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu condemned the incident, stating that such acts against police officers and their commitment to service delivery will not be tolerated. He emphasized the need for community cooperation in efforts to prevent and reduce crime. “Violent behavior not only jeopardizes police work but also disrupts the progress we are making towards safer communities for everyone,” he remarked.

As officers work quickly to apprehend the second suspect, the arrested individual is being questioned at the Nabua Police Station. The police service’s proactive response reflects an ongoing commitment to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

This response aligns with recent police initiatives, described by Commissioner Tudravu and various law enforcement officials, aiming to deter violence and promote community trust in policing efforts. The call for community collaboration is a vital component in fostering safe and peaceful neighborhoods.

In this context, it is hoped that with heightened vigilance and cooperation from the public, incidents like these can be minimized, leading to a more secure environment for all residents.
