The third day of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl saw the RFMF Army Wives successfully defending their Netball title, securing a narrow victory against the Police Wives with a score of 25 to 22 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva. In another match, Army Servers 2 triumphed over Police Servers 2 with a score of 44 to 29.
Team Coach Seini Naigatogato expressed gratitude to the senior Wives for their support and input in preparing the squad for this championship title. She emphasized the importance of mentorship, stating, “This year we had to get some old players to come and share their experiences with the new ones. We’re hoping that by next year, we will get some new players.”
Captain of Army Servers 2, Venina Naigatogato, commended her team’s performance and noted the significance of teamwork in overcoming the competition. “I’m very proud of the girls, with the effort they gave in as it was a very tense competition,” she said. She credited hard work and preparation as vital factors in their success.
The win holds particular emotional weight for Naigatogato, as she dedicated the victory to all Army Servers globally, especially to their late comrade, Private Lawanigusu, who recently passed away from cancer. “Today’s win is dedicated to all the Servers around the world… especially to our comrade that passed away last Thursday,” she shared.
