ANZ Welcomes New Leadership to Timor-Leste

ANZ has announced the appointment of Martin Beattie as the Country Head for ANZ Timor-Leste, pending regulatory approvals. Mr. Beattie will report to Sarah Stubbings, ANZ Regional Executive for the Pacific, and will oversee the bank’s commercial banking operations in the region.

Sarah Stubbings emphasized the significance of the Asia-Pacific region to ANZ’s international network, highlighting Timor-Leste as a vital and expanding market. She expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Mr. Beattie to strengthen ANZ’s presence in the area.

With 15 years of experience at ANZ, Mr. Beattie has held various positions, including Specialist Property Manager and State Manager for Commercial Brokers across Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. He previously served as the Country Head for the Solomon Islands, where Ms. Stubbings noted his successful leadership.

Mr. Beattie brings over 18 years of diverse financial and banking experience, both internationally and in Australia, and is committed to making a positive impact in Timor-Leste. He is set to arrive in Timor-Leste in October and will officially assume his role after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.

In the interim, Joao Ferreira, the Head of Commercial for Timor-Leste, will take on the Acting Country Head position following the departure of the current Country Head, Bernadette Shaw, in early October. Ms. Stubbings thanked Bernadette for her dedication to clients, the community, and the ANZ team in Timor-Leste, wishing her success in her new position as Country Head of Laos.
