ANZ Pacific has announced the relocation of its Pacific Reconciliations function from Suva to its Group Reconciliations Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, a transition set to take place in May 2025. Rabih Yazbek, ANZ Bank’s Country Head for Fiji, reassured that the 17 employees currently working in the Pacific Reconciliation unit will not lose their jobs; instead, they will be provided with alternative positions within ANZ Pacific Operations and ANZ Fiji.

Yazbek emphasized that this move is part of ANZ’s strategy to enhance operational efficiency and reduce non-financial risks. Over recent years, the bank has focused on simplifying and centralizing its operations, and this decision follows a thorough review aimed at improving business processes.

“This change will not affect our customers,” Yazbek stated, indicating that the shift towards Bengaluru will enable ANZ to leverage advanced technology, established frameworks, and enhanced expertise, ultimately leading to improved accuracy and efficiency in operations.

Despite acknowledging that this transition may present challenges for the current team, Yazbek committed to supporting them throughout the process. He mentioned that alongside the reconciliation work being transferred out, new roles in areas such as Know Your Customer functions, Retail Non-Individual Account Opening, and securities management will be introduced within ANZ’s Pacific Operations.

This strategic decision reflects ANZ’s commitment to adapt to evolving business landscapes while ensuring the wellbeing of its employees and service quality for its customers. The move to integrate operations with the Group Reconciliations CoE aligns with global best practices and positions ANZ Pacific for future growth in the region.

In summary, while change can be challenging, it is encouraging to see that staff will be supported and new opportunities will arise within the organization as ANZ continues to streamline its operations.
