ANZ Pacific has announced the relocation of its Pacific Reconciliations function from Suva to its Group Reconciliations Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, effective May 2025. This strategic decision is part of ANZ’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and mitigate potential financial and non-financial risks through enhanced efficiency.
Rabih Yazbek, Country Head of Fiji for ANZ Bank, reassured that all 17 employees currently in the Pacific Reconciliation unit will retain their jobs and will be offered alternative positions within ANZ Pacific Operations and ANZ Fiji. This reflects the bank’s commitment to its staff amid the transition.
According to Mr. Yazbek, the move aims to align ANZ Pacific with its global practices, where reconciliations are conducted at the Global CoE. It will also allow the bank to utilize advanced technology and standardized processes, which are expected to lead to greater accuracy and operational efficiency.
Acknowledging that the transition may be challenging for the team, Mr. Yazbek emphasized the bank’s efforts to consult with affected employees and facilitate their adaptation to the changes. Despite the relocation of the reconciliation work, ANZ is committed to increasing other operations within the Pacific region, including functions related to customer verification and securities management.
This positive shift not only aims to enhance operational effectiveness but also ensures job security for current employees, showcasing ANZ Pacific’s dedication to its workforce as it embraces a more efficient and technologically advanced future.
Overall, this decision demonstrates a forward-thinking approach that prioritizes both employee welfare and improved service delivery for customers.
