ANZ has announced the appointment of Martin Beattie as the Country Head for ANZ in Timor-Leste, pending regulatory approvals.
Mr. Beattie will report to Sarah Stubbings, the ANZ Regional Executive for the Pacific, and will be responsible for overseeing ANZ’s commercial banking operations in Timor-Leste. Stubbings expressed enthusiasm about Beattie’s appointment, emphasizing the importance of the Asia-Pacific region within ANZ’s international network and the significance of Timor-Leste as a developing market.
Beattie has been with ANZ for 15 years, during which he has held various positions, including Specialist Property Manager and State Manager for Commercial Brokers across Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. He also served as the Country Head for the Solomon Islands, where he achieved notable success.
“Martin did a great job leading our team in the Solomons. I am thrilled to announce his appointment to this critical position,” Stubbings stated. She highlighted Beattie’s extensive experience, which spans over 18 years in diverse finance and banking roles, both internationally and in Australia, along with his commitment to community engagement.
Beattie is expected to arrive in Timor-Leste in October and will officially take on the Country Head position once all necessary regulatory approvals are completed. Meanwhile, Joao Ferreira, the Head of Commercial for Timor-Leste, will step in as Acting Country Head following the departure of the current Country Head, Bernadette Shaw, in early October.
Stubbings expressed gratitude to Shaw for her dedication to customers, the community, and the team in Timor-Leste, wishing her success in her new role as Country Head of Laos.
