Eight individuals were taken to Korovou Hospital following a collision between a container trailer and a minibus. The incident occurred around midday near Lokuya Hill, close to Verata Junction on King’s Road.
The victims included both drivers and six passengers from the minibus, all of whom required medical attention. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic for the Fiji Police Force, urged all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to remain cautious while driving. He highlighted that this marks the second accident involving PSVs within the week, emphasizing the growing concern for the safety of passengers on the road.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
In a broader context, this unfortunate situation underscores the critical importance of road safety measures and driver awareness. It serves as a reminder for all drivers to adhere to traffic regulations in order to protect themselves and their passengers. We can hope that through heightened awareness and better road safety education, such accidents can be minimized in the future.
