Amrut Indian Whisky enthusiasts in Fiji have reason to celebrate following a recent partnership between the Motibhai Group and the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. The collaboration, announced on Friday, marks the introduction of Amrut, a single malt whisky, at Fiji’s first speakeasy bar, Cellar & Barrel. This bar is supplied by Alba Whisky – Whisky & Spirits Distributors, based in Australia.

Ian McKinlay, managing director of Alba Whisky, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting Amrut in Fiji. He highlighted the successful training sessions conducted with the Sheraton bar staff and personnel from Motibhai’s duty-free shops, stating, “They are knowledgeable and skilled, and I learned a few things from them as well.” McKinlay emphasized that he and his team from Melbourne are eager to return to Fiji to continue their support for Amrut Whisky.

Yvo van Dijk, the hotel manager for the Sheraton Fiji complex, shared his pride in teaming up with Motibhai Group, noting that Amrut has become one of their favorite additions to the Cellar & Barrel menu. “Our team has been trained on how to make whisky and discuss its origins, including the distinct differences between Indian and traditional Scottish whisky,” he explained, hoping the knowledge gained will elevate their performance in upcoming competitions.

Nitesh Chand, business development manager for Motibhai Group, echoed these sentiments, expressing excitement over the partnership and the prospects for future events intertwining Amrut Whisky with their collaborations at the Sheraton Fiji.

This initiative also aligns with broader trends seen across Fiji’s hospitality sector, where luxury resorts and bars are increasingly focusing on enhancing their beverage offerings. The expansive training efforts and new product introductions signify a commitment to excellence in the culinary and beverage experiences available to guests and residents alike, fostering a vibrant atmosphere for whisky lovers.

The launch of Amrut Indian Whisky comes alongside other exciting developments in Fiji’s dining scene, reflecting a growing appreciation for unique beverage experiences and cultural exchanges in the hospitality industry. The efforts made by Motibhai Group and Sheraton Fiji promise to contribute to Fiji’s growing reputation as a destination rich in food and beverage offerings, providing hopeful prospects for tourism growth.
