Alphonsus House Emerges Victorious in Thrilling Athletics Showdown!

Julius Ah Sing from Alphonsus House has claimed the prestigious title in the intensely fought 100 meters final during the annual Marist Brothers High School inter-house athletics competition. His remarkable speed and determination helped him just outpace Penaia Ramasirai from Lambert House, a seasoned sprinter from the former MGM High School.

Alphonsus House triumphed overall, successfully unseating Claudius House, which had dominated the championship for the previous three years. The final medal standings were impressive, with Alphonsus House garnering 17 gold, 15 silver, and 15 bronze medals. Claudius House followed closely with the same number of gold medals but trailed behind in silver (13) and bronze (14) medals. Lambert House secured third place with 11 gold, 18 silver, and 12 bronze medals, while Augustine House finished fourth, accumulating 7 gold, 6 silver, and 11 bronze medals.

In addition to the 100 meters, Brooklyn Bennett from Lambert House showcased her remarkable athletic skills, winning both the 200m and 400m events. The competition, spanning two days and featuring over 400 participants, illustrated the strong competitive spirit and enthusiasm for inter-house athletics among students.

The event not only highlights individual performances but also promotes teamwork and camaraderie within the student body, fostering a vibrant sporting culture. Competitions like this are vital for nurturing talent, motivating young athletes, and creating a pipeline for future sports stars. The similarities drawn with other recent inter-house competitions at institutions like Natabua and Suva Grammar Schools signify a community-wide commitment to developing athletic abilities and aspiring for excellence in sports. This commitment holds great promise for the future of athletics in the region.
