Executives of the People’s Alliance are convening today in Suva to discuss the future of former Minister Lynda Tabuya. The Prime Minister, currently in the Northern Division, is anticipated to participate in the meeting via Zoom.
Tabuya was recently dismissed from her cabinet position following the circulation of a nude video on social media, which sparked significant controversy. Earlier in the year, the People’s Alliance executive committee also removed her from the role of Deputy Leader. While she remains a Member of Parliament, her status could be jeopardized if the party chooses to expel her.
This meeting represents a critical moment for the People’s Alliance as it navigates the implications of Tabuya’s actions and determines how to uphold the party’s values while making a decision that could impact its leadership and reputation.
As the party leaders deliberate, the outcome may also signal how similar situations will be addressed in the future, emphasizing the balance between personal conduct and public service.
