A 20-year-old man will appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court today facing charges of alleged sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred on the night of June 27. The accused, known to the family, allegedly offered to take the girl from her grandfather’s home where she had been sleeping, to her mother after she woke up crying.
During the journey, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the girl before taking her home. The child later informed her mother about the incident, prompting a report to be made at the Nabouwalu Police Station. The accused has been charged with one count of sexual assault.
