The husband of a former member of Grace Road Church (GRC) has disputed allegations made by his wife regarding the mistreatment of families within the organization. In a conversation with The Fiji Times, he described the situation as a personal matter that has unfortunately implicated GRC.
His wife, who requested anonymity, fled from True Mart shopping center in Navua after nearly eight years associated with the church. She expressed concern for her two children, ages 13 and four, and her desire to provide them with a better life outside the church’s environment.
The husband countered her claims, suggesting that her anger led her to blame the organization. He downplayed the issue of family separation, stating that it is a normal part of life and often occurs due to work commitments, particularly as GRC works to expand. He emphasized that the separations are not detrimental and asserted that their children are happy and well-educated, backed by evidence of their recreational activities.
He expressed hope that his wife might reconsider her actions and return to the family. Meanwhile, GRC has chosen not to comment on the allegations and directed questions to the husband.
This situation underscores the complexities of personal relationships when intertwined with organized communities. As both sides voice their perspectives, it highlights the need for open dialogue and understanding. There is potential for resolution and healing, showcasing the power of communication in overcoming disputes within families.
