Defending champions, the NZFFI Auckland All Stars, began their Pacific Community Cup journey on a high note, securing a 2-1 victory against Rewa at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The match started off dramatically with Rewa’s John Orobulu, from the Solomon Islands, catching everyone off guard by scoring just 56 seconds into the game.

However, the All Stars quickly regained their composure, with guest player Hamish Watson finding the back of the net in the 12th minute to equalize. Veteran striker Samuela Drudru then scored the decisive goal seven minutes later, putting the champions ahead.

Although the second half saw both teams striving for more goals, neither was able to change the scoreline, showcasing a competitive spirit.

Looking ahead, the NZFFI Auckland All Stars will take on the USA All Stars in their next match scheduled for 4:30 PM tomorrow, while Rewa faces Labasa at 5:45 PM.

This promising start for the All Stars highlights their determination to defend their title, and fans can look forward to more thrilling matches in the tournament.
