All Blacks winger Sevu Reece has been fined NZD 2,000 for an incident in which he crashed a car into a garage while under the influence last November. Initially charged with taking a vehicle without permission and intentionally damaging property, Reece’s charges were later reduced to a single count of willful damage after he pleaded guilty.

Yesterday, during his sentencing at Christchurch District Court, the 27-year-old received a discharge for his conviction; however, he is required to pay the fine. “Standing here today, I just want to say that I’m really, really sorry for my behavior that has led to us being here in court today,” Reece expressed to reporters.

The incident took place when Reece was asked to leave a gathering for being disrespectful. Instead of departing on foot, he got into a vehicle parked at the location, crashed into the garage, and subsequently left the scene.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible behavior, particularly for public figures. As Reece moves forward, he has the opportunity to learn from this experience and demonstrate positive changes in his conduct both on and off the field. With support from fans and his team, Reece can focus on rebuilding his reputation and continue contributing positively to the sport.
