All Blacks Make Last-Minute Change: Fihaki Steps Up After Barrett Injury

Crusaders’ outside back Chay Fihaki has been added to the All Blacks squad as injury cover ahead of the second Bledisloe Cup Test against Australia in Wellington. This decision follows the news that All Blacks centre and vice-captain Jordie Barrett has been sidelined due to a knee injury.

The All Blacks have announced that Barrett sustained damage to his medial collateral ligament (MCL), which will keep him out of the upcoming match.

Fihaki, who is 23 years old, made his Super Rugby Pacific debut under coach Scott Robertson in 2021. Since then, he has demonstrated his versatility by playing on the wing and at fullback. In the 2024 season, he scored four tries over 14 games for the Crusaders.

The All Blacks are set to face the Wallabies at 7:05 PM this Saturday at the Sky Sports Stadium in Wellington.
