All Blacks Break Wellington Curse with Dominant Wallabies Victory

The All Blacks secured a commanding 33-13 victory over the Wallabies in the second Bledisloe Cup test held in Wellington, marking their last home game of the year. This win broke a six-year drought for the All Blacks in Wellington and concluded their Rugby Championship season with a record of three wins and three losses.

Captain Scott Barrett expressed his relief at finally winning in Wellington, stating, “Really pleased to reverse the curse,” and praised the team’s strong finish, highlighting their defensive grit. The All Blacks managed to overcome a difficult quarter, scoring two tries in the second half from Tamaiti Williams and Clarke.

Former captain Sam Cane celebrated his 100th test appearance, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to achieve this milestone in front of a home crowd and commending the younger players who have shown exceptional talent throughout the Rugby Championship.

Cane and fellow player TJ Perenara were recognized for their contributions to the team, with Barrett noting their significant legacies left behind.

Wallabies captain Harry Wilson acknowledged the team’s disappointing campaign, despite moments of opportunity. The match began with the Wallabies dominating early and scoring first through flanker Fraser McReight. However, the All Blacks quickly responded with tries from Sevu Reece and Will Jordan, ultimately taking the lead before halftime.

In the second half, the All Blacks capitalized on their momentum, with Williams and Clarke scoring, extending their lead to an unassailable 33-13. The Wallabies, despite a late push, failed to convert their chances into points.

The match concluded on a bittersweet note for Clarke, who received a yellow card in the closing minutes. Nevertheless, the All Blacks finished strong, showcasing one of their more impressive performances of the championship.
