Mohammed Ali has ultimately secured a title shot at the upcoming Bluewater Boxing Promotion scheduled for February 22 in Suva, stepping in to replace Ronald Naidu, who had to withdraw for medical reasons. Ali will compete against Mikaele Ravalaca for the vacant Fiji Lightweight Championship in the 61kg category.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this opportunity, Ali shared, “It’s a great chance for me; I am happy to get this opportunity. It’s a different weight for me, but I’m ready to do what I need to there.” Despite Ravalaca’s successful stint in Australia, Ali remains unfazed, citing his experience against notable fighters like Ubayd Haider and Rakuro Daunivavana as preparation for this challenge.
The event will take place at the Vodafone Arena and also feature a supporting bout between Joseph Kwadjo and Robin Hazelman, as well as a clash between Alivereti Kauyaca and Paula Ratumaikuro, showcasing a collective of talented boxers.
Building on the anticipation surrounding the event, promoter Samir Khan has emphasized the commitment to ensuring safety protocols, including drug tests and medical examinations for the participants. This promotion reflects an encouraging trend in the boxing community, highlighting the potential for growth and the importance of athlete welfare.
Overall, this upcoming boxing event not only represents a pivotal moment for Ali as he aims for glory but also showcases the vibrant boxing scene in Fiji, fostering excitement within the local sporting community.
