Former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has expressed his unwavering commitment to his values and principles in the face of what he perceives as injustice. Speaking in an interview with New Zealand-based Radio Tarana, Sayed-Khaiyum emphasized the importance of maintaining dignity and integrity, stating that one must never surrender to oppression or compromise beliefs.

“You never bow down in the face of injustice. You never bow down to oppression, and you never lower your dignity,” he remarked, underscoring the significance of truth in challenging times. Despite the difficulties he currently faces, Sayed-Khaiyum believes that these experiences have only reinforced his determination to stand firm.

He reiterated that adhering to one’s principles is paramount, asserting, “Now, more than ever before, I am affirmed in my values and principles. I believe that ultimately the truth will always prevail, irrespective of any injustice that may take place — false charges, political charges, or name-calling on social media.”

Sayed-Khaiyum stated that his strength draws from his faith and family, which he views as vital sources of resilience. He reminded listeners that life is transient and that material possessions are temporary. “You don’t take anything with you. The only things that remain are your faith and the good deeds you leave behind — deeds that continue to benefit others even after you are gone,” he explained.

In a world where challenges may seem daunting, Sayed-Khaiyum’s perspective offers a hopeful reminder of the enduring power of faith, integrity, and the lasting impact of one’s actions on others.
